ROBERT MYERS, Council Chairperson, Founder
A native Bahamian, Robert Myers returned home in 1982 after completing his education in England and the United States. Robert has long been dedicated to civic engagement for improvement of The Bahamas as is evidenced by his many efforts as a former Rotarian and past-chairman of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce & Employers Confederation.
As the founder and Co-Chairman of the Coalition for Responsible Taxation, Robert led the efforts to negotiate VAT taxes down from a proposed 15 per cent to 7.5 per cent and eliminate almost all exemptions. Robert and a group of other concerned Bahamians, founded The Organization for Responsible Governance, an apolitical not-for-profit civic foundation, to address the underlying policy and governance issues that limit the future success of our country and our people.
A leader of private industry, Robert is shareholder and director of several Bahamian-owned and operated businesses under the umbrella of Caribbean Group, where he serves as president.
LANA LEE-BROGDON, Councilor, Co-chair of Public Education and Messaging Committee
A native Bahamian, Robert Myers returned home in 1982 after completing his education in England and the United States. Robert has long been dedicated to civic engagement for improvement of The Bahamas as is evidenced by his many efforts as a former Rotarian and past-chairman of the Bahamas Chamber of Lana Lee-Brogdon owns and operates Wok N Roll Chinese Restaurant and Bar on Cable Beach and is president of New Oriental Laundry and Cleaners Ltd., a family-owned business now in its 55th year. She is a co-founder of the Organization for Responsible Governance (ORG) and is currently serving her third year as a Director on the Board of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce & Employers Confederation. She was also the Public Relations Director for the Coalition for Responsible Taxation.
MICHAEL PATON, Councilor
Based in Nassau, Michael is a Partner at Lennox Paton Legal Firm and head of its Corporate and Commercial, Investment Funds and Banking and Finance Groups. Michael is ranked Band 1 by Chambers Global Guide in the area of General Business Law. Michael is also a qualified Certified Public Accountant (non practising).
Educated at Radley College, England (1981), Tulane University, USA (1985) and the University of Westminster, England (1990, Michael has been admitted to the Bar of England and Wales (1991), the Bahamas Bar Association (1991) and the State of Louisiana Board of Certified Public Accountants (1986). He is a member of Lincolns Inn, the International Bar Association and the International Tax Planning Association. He is a former Chairman of the Bahamas Financial Services Board and is currently the Director of Bahamas Air Sea Rescue Association (since 2001) and the Co-Chairman for the Bahamas Government Task Force on Private Pensions (since 2009).
TROY D’ARVILLE, Councilor
Troy D’Arville has been President and Chief Executive Officer for Furniture Plus & The Plus Group of Companies in Nassau, Bahamas for over twenty (20) years. His background and experience includes Retail Furniture, Consumer Credit & Finance, Retail Shopping Centers, Real Estate and Investments.
He is a highly regarded, innovative entrepreneur who sits on the boards of other diverse businesses such as CMA Insurance, Source River Holdings, and previously the YPO Bahamas Chapter.A firm believer in continuing education both personally and organizationally, Troy has attended the YPO Harvard Business School seminar for executive education for the last seven years and continually identifies and supports employee development within his organization.
Mr. D’Arville holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing & Business Administration from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He is married with children.
GALEN SAUNDERS, Councilor
Galen Saunders is currently the General Manager and President of More FM Company Ltd. and owner of More 94 FM, The Bahamas Super Station – a top-rated station in the Bahamian media market. He is also a part owner/director of Bahamas Broadcast Services a subsidiary of More FM Company Ltd. specializing in all aspects of broadcast services inclusive of programming services, syndication, production, and online services.
Mr. Saunders was educated in the Bahamas, England in UK, and the United States receiving degrees in Business Administration, and Computer Management from Prospect Hall College, Miami, Florida in 1983. He has worked primarily in the information technology and Entertainment Marketing fields including: Director of Bahamas Digital Networks, a Nassau-based Internet Service Provider; President of Ballhead Productions specializing in Event Marketing and Concert Promotions; President and owner of Jade Imports Company Ltd. specializing in importing family and estate wines from around the world and President of OMNI INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT COMPANY LIMITED, a full-service management and consulting firm specializing in entertainment and marketing services, IT & Communications solutions, and international business management.
NICOLE URIASZ, Councilor
Nicole Uriasz is the Outreach Manager at Baha Mar and the former Engagement Coordinator for The Organization for Responsible Governance, where she launched the organization’s multi-platform engagement vehicle The Campaign for The Bahamas.
A York University Graduate holding degrees in Political Science and Anthropology, Nicole is a social media maven with expertise in online marketing and web based social media platforms including Facebook, Google Analytics, WordPress, Blogger, Tumblr, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn. At Baha Mar Ltd. Nicole has created an employment brand establishing the resort as ’employer of choice’ in the region.
DIANE PHILLIPS, Councilor
Diane Phillips, Founder and President of Diane Phillips and Associates, is a public relations maven, photographer, publisher, and journalist who has been recognized locally and abroad for her contributions to her profession, philanthropy and civil society.
A naturalized Bahamian, Phillips came to The Bahamas nearly 35 years ago after a 20-plus-year career in journalism wherein she has held positions at internationally renowned publications such as The New York Times, The Associated Press, and The Weekly World News. Her award-winning PR firm has won two Silver Addy’s, one of the most prestigious distinctions in American advertising.
Throughout her career Phillips has carved a culture of balancing corporate excellence with community outreach. She served as the first exec director of the Bahamas Duty Free Promotion Board, the first executive director of the Nassau Tourism & Development Board and continues to serve on civic boards with special interests in historic Bahamas, the environment, business development, wellness and wiping out hunger.
STEPHEN GREENSLADE, Councilor
Stephen Greenslade is the founder and owner of ICS of The Bahamas Co. Ltd, a group of 5 security and safety companies with operations in The Bahamas and The United States of America. A former officer with The Royal Bahamas Police Force and Director of Security at Nassau Marriott Resorts, Greenslade has had a diverse career, gaining certification as a Protection Officer, Paralegal, Fraud Specialist, and Risk Manager.
Known for his vision, patriotism, and philanthropy, Greenslade believes strongly in education, training, and workforce development – cornerstones of his platform during his 2017 General Election candidacy with the Democratic National Alliance. As a member of the ORG Foundation Council, Greenslade aims to make a lasting, positive impact on the socio-economic fabric of the nation. Through his broad involvement in numerous local and international charities and organizations, Greenslade brings a fresh perspective and innovative ideas on governance and local policy to ORG.
