Matthew is a Licensed Master Social Worker and a graduate of the Hunter School of Social Work, with more than 25 years of experience leading dynamic teams at award-winning not-for-profit-organizations. He served as a Director at YAI Network, an international recognized disabilities agency, and at Action Against Hunger, a renowned global humanitarian and hunger relief organization.

Here in The Bahamas, Matt was the Director of Community Relations and Partnerships for Baha Mar, overseeing the BELIEVE Foundation. Additionally, he has served as a consultant for REACH, Young Marine Explorers, The Seahorse Institute, and the Ministry of Social Services. Over his career, he has worked on advocacy and social justice efforts in the United States, Jordan, India, Bangladesh, The Bahamas, and The United Emirates. Matt is recognized with an expertise in fundraising, marketing, community organizing, corporate social responsibility and not-for-profit management.

Ari Wells

Ari Wells is a project manager and community organizer based in The Bahamas, focused on strengthening community-centered governance through civic education, empowerment, and active participation. She develops and leads initiatives that address social challenges, promote inclusivity, and support underrepresented communities.

Ari’s work is guided by both the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and The Bahamas’ National Development Plan, ensuring her approach is globally informed while rooted in local realities. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Project Management, with a focus on designing impactful community engagement initiatives that support sustainable nation-building.

E. Vanessa Bethel

Vanessa Bethel is Senior Manager of Organizational Development & Operations and Project Manager of Map4Good Bahamas at the Organization for Responsible Governance (ORG). She brings over a decade of experience across operations, project management, research, and cross-sector coordination, with a strong track record of  strengthening organizational systems.

Her work focuses on building structures, from internal governance and operational frameworks to national-level initiatives that support civil society visibility, coordination, and capacity. Through Map4Good Bahamas, she is helping to develop the country’s first comprehensive directory and interactive map of non-profit and faith-based organizations, contributing to a more connected, informed, and collaborative sector.

She is a first-generation college graduate and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Smith College. Her academic interests center on the legacies of colonialism and their influence on contemporary social and economic systems, with a particular focus on inequality, governance, and development through an intersectional, Global South lens.

Vanessa’s work is grounded in a commitment to ethical leadership and meaningful impact, integrating lived experience, professional practice, and academic insight in service of stronger communities and systems.

Jazmyn Pickstock, MPH

Project Assistant

Jazmyn is a Project Assistant and Public Health professional at the Organization for Responsible Governance, where she supports community outreach and engagement. She brings a global perspective to her work, having earned her Master of Public Health in Health Promotion and Service Improvement from Imperial College London, and her Bachelor of Science in Public Health from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee.

Her work is rooted in a deep commitment to health equity, social determinants of health, and community-centered approaches to public health. At ORG, Jazmyn has assisted with mixed-methods research on development in the Exuma Cays and Eleuthera, as well as facilitating Youth in Governance workshops in partnership with the United Nations, and numerous other projects.

Jazmyn’s career spans public health research, healthcare communications, and community service across The Bahamas, the United Kingdom, and the United States. She is passionate about empowering underserved communities, bridging the gap between policy and people, and ensuring that every voice, especially those most marginalized, is heard in governance and health systems.

Leah Carr

Leah has over seven years of communications expertise, spanning the corporate, nonprofit, and small business sectors. With a Bachelor of Arts in Media Journalism from The University of the Bahamas, she a keen eye for detail, a passion for writing, and a robust understanding of storytelling and public relations.

Leah has spent the past five years in non-profit communications, working previously as a Communications Officer for The Bahamas National Trust. She has a commitment to environmental advocacy and public outreach, and enjoys connecting people with organizations that have meaningful missions.

Leah is dedicated to telling stories of impact and helping to curate spaces where important conversations can take place and inspire understanding, vision, and change.

Ashleigh Sean Rolle

Ashleigh Sean Rolle is a Bahamian social commentator, writer, speechwriter, and cultural worker born in New Providence, raised in Grand Bahama, and currently based in London, United Kingdom. She is a writer in residence at RuptureXIBIT and a recent graduate of Kingston University, where she completed her MA in Creative Writing with distinction and was awarded the Kingston University Creative Writing Prize. She is also the winner of the Central Bank of The Bahamas’ Innovation Prize for her project The Bahamian Citizenship Test.

 

A former Global Shaper for the World Economic Forum and One Young World Ambassador, Ashleigh served as the first Coordinating Ambassador for Latin America and the Caribbean for the One Young World organization. In 2014, she received The Ministry of Youth’s Most Outstanding Youth Award and was selected as a Fellow in President Obama’s inaugural Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative in 2016.

Ashleigh’s work has been featured in HuffPost, MindThis Magazine, Fodor’s Travel, Bonefish & Tarpon Trust, CNN, and the popular Bahamian platform 10th Year Seniors. She explores Bahamian history and culture through intergenerational storytelling while acknowledging the invisible labour of matriarchs within the Bahamian working class.
